Natures way ...

Today, driving home from work I noticed, like i do most days, a flock of pelicans sitting on the edge of the jetty. Most were looking out at the sunset over the lake or so it seemed from my car. A few were looking at each other ... they often congregate in little sub groups within close proximity to each other.

My question, (which may seem insignificant) is this ... What do animals/non human creatures think and feel? I know there have been lots of studies done and many theories floating around based on brain size and activity, etc, however i still wonder, what they are thinking and feeling and sensing, particularly when they are simply sitting still, doing, what seems to us, like 'nothing' but being.

Do they simply merge with all of nature and go into a beautiful, blissful meditative state? Do they contemplate their life? Or are they looking at the sun setting while thinking about their next meal?

I chose to put this thread here, in the Spiritual Dev't section rather than in the nature section because, I feel, when we acquiesce to nature we become acutely aware of our spiritual nature which is incredibly enriching, and which overflows into every aspect of our lives ... even giving this question some thought may prove stimulating in its own 'natural' way ...

Much gratitude in advance for all contributions

Nice post.. my understanding is that they do what we do, they Live.. living close to nature all my life, i 'feel' animals, and.. it feels like they simply have different frames of reference, but similar relationships with life and each other.. many of humanity's traits are evident in the activities of the animal kindom..

Be well..
