Here's what the dog thinks about waiting around for red squirrels:

It was great to see them moving around, high in the canopy. But the first sighting was after sitting quietly on the soft mossy ground by the trees. The dog was the first to react, but after waiting for a little longer, I turned to see one pausing on the ground behind me, before heading off :)

~ the next time we waited around, the dog started growling, hearing something moving around. When we began to walk back, there was one starting to climb up a tree. It was quite curious, looking down at us. I didn't hang around for long, just in case it wanted to come straight back down.

And then when they showed up he said "SQUIRREL! SQUIRREL! Can I get the squirrel, can I? You let me get the squirrel? ", right?

Haha! I love the dog's happy squirrel-watching face! It speaks volumes.

I am glad to hear Red Squirrels are on the increase.

All the efforts to guard and protect the Reds have proved worth it in the end.

Oh no! she does her own thing ~ I try to stop her from reacting to them in a way, that picked up from another dog...

... it's not so bad when she just lets you know! There was the usual little bit, of a hungry labrador face too

Oh! One of the visitor centres had a few notices up, because a handful had been killed on the surrounding roads in a few months. So the message to drivers was to slow down, and keep an eye out for them ~ a few signs on the roads would be good!
