Good thread, KOA! Yes, Rupert Sheldrake has been famous for many years for his research into animal telepathy. He has his own website, for anyone interested in researching further. It is mentioned at the end of the article.
I'm sure that other forum members will come forward with numerous stories of pets sensing things. Our beloved Puce, when in the physical, knew when we had plans to go in the car (which she adored!), long before we made any physical movements indicating that we were going out.
Not just domestic pets have such gifts. Our sheep, according to our neighbour, start baaing and waiting in the corner of the field near the road, about ten minutes before our car becomes audible in the distance!

I have no doubts at all about animals' ability to pick up our thoughts, etc telepathically. I experience it often enough with my cats, and can sometimes even pick up the thoughts/feelings of wild animals myself.
Animals also have much sharper senses than humans, so they can smell, feel and hear things much sooner/farther away than we can. I have read that a cat's hearing is 7 times more sensitive than ours - so I always point out to people about having their TV/radios, etc cranked up too loud - if it seems loud to us - how do you think it must seem to our poor cats??!!!??

One of my pets is a 'guru cat' who often tells me telepathically what I should do about something... and she's right.
