Can you have multiple spiritual awakenings?

Hello all,

I went through the dark night of the soul and then awakened ten years ago. I started going through another dark night of the soul a year ago. They are very similar in their signs, symptoms, the experience itself.

My question is can you have multiple spiritual awakenings? Or is it a case of some roots are still left from the rotten tree that need removed or their are still a few layers left of the onion to be peeled that were missed last time etc..

All thoughts and inputs would be greatly appreciated

To me the awakening is to realize how our reality / experiences are made.
The main component is to elevate our state of mind.

So if you elevated your state of mind with products (which isn't bad in itself) but you stopped taking them, then yes, you will probably forget the experience and think "this is only possible by taking this and that".
And you can experience several awakenings until you find a stable way of maintaining a high state of mind.

I like the analogy, it could be, but say you inherited from a bad family karma (bad genetics), you can do a lot (the majority of who we are is not genetic) but your DNA will still be there, you will have to deal with it all this life.

My exp? Yes, like a flower blooming...we open and learn more and more and more...does it end?
Others have said no

You may not relate to this, but when I have an, um, a 'not so pleasant feeling', I won't go so far as a Dark Night...but, I
(personally) trust in God and talk to Him saying, "I'm fine because I know You want me to learn something feeling this." And then smile.
Funny, how just acknowledging that lifts the ''cloud''.

I find life has sweet fruit and bitter fruit. Oh well...we do the best we can, I say...like going thru rough waters...they pass.

My experience as well. I've always taken reincarnation to be about awakening as well. Part of it.

Hello

I feel yes we can as we are ever going forwards and backwards at it seems the same time. The saying one step forwards and 2 steps backwards comes to mind.

If you take one step forward, two steps back, you make progress but then experience events that cause you to be further behind than you were when you made the progress.

I feel at times we do have to slow that pace we are on and go back and work on things we tried to skim past. This too might well flow into our past lives as we might well come into life with Karmic Debts to work on.

I know I had the first awakening at birth, as I know well I tried to take out my mother and thus my coming into this life twice. Yet in I came and she survived that ride.

I then played in areas I was warned off doing and I had my Near Death Event. From there more awakenings I feel took place. Having children I was said not to be able to have, and getting free from the EX I too was told would never come to pass in this lifetime by so many readers over the years.

It would seem that maybe if we pass a test or clear something in energy we are given a new awakening event to unfold.

What I do know is that I have learned to embrace the blessings I have been granted and I never forget the past hardships that shape whom and what I am.

I do not think of a spiritual awakening as a one-off event which then directs our journey for the rest of our lives.

I see the process as continual cycles. There is a period of inner change and growth (probably including some inner turmoil) which is followed by a period of consolidation when we embody what we have learned. Which is then followed by another period of inner change, and so on.

The analogy of the onion and its layers seems quite apt. It may not be that we missed bits the last time, but more that we are now working with a deeper layer.

I mentioned cycles but it may be more accurate to think of it as a spiral. We are not going round in circles, but every time we complete a cycle we begin again on a higher turn of the spiral.

Peace

Iamthat explains it well.

An integrative spiral that continues to allow you to deepen your awareness from previous cycles of growth.

In saying that, there are some pivotal awakening points that often link to a deeper awakening process, dependent upon what’s seeking to be opened in each of us.

I believe that knowledge is infinite, so labels don't matter much.

Labels like "awakened" can actually distract. You could consider yourself "awaken", even others could recognize you as "awaken", but it doesn't help you if you're actually "awaken to an illusion", and get stuck in your "false-awakening".

For example, on another (non-duality) forum I read many posters who claim to be "awaken" (even "self-realized"), some of them consider themselves teachers, and some of those are recognized as such by other posters. From what I know, from my experiences, I strongly believe that all those are mistaken, some widely mistaken.

Who's to say who is right? Truth isn't decided by majority, by vote.

An awakening is but step on the spiritual journey.
As such, you can have many along the way.

Hopefully you don't fall back asleep along the way and have the same awakening again :(

That's the way I see it. Like pulling up some weeds and missing some roots. If roots are left weeds will always come back.
