I may not be able to do much, but i'll do whatever little good i can.
And, in the long run, that will be enough.
You may not be able to do much. But do what little good you can. Have whatever good thoughts you can. Take whatever good little actions you can. It will, in the long run, be enough.
Imagine this: Whatever you do will ring through Eternity. Like tossing a pebble into a lake it will create circles of effects. But there is no edge to the lake of life. Imagine each of your thoughts and actions will ring through Eternity.
You may or may not get to see any of the ramifications of what you think, do or feel today. That really doesnt matter. It will still have its effects.
And you cannot really measure the consequences. I once read the story of a man who happened to be a teacher. One day, a former student came to him to thank him. Why? Apparently this teacher had, on some long ago and forgotten day, said a few kind words to this student. On that particular day, the students life was so dismal that she had decided she was going to go home and kill herself. She had already made the plans and set her mind to it. But, as she explained to him, what he said to her changed her mind.
The funny thing is, the teacher could not remember at all saying or doing anything memorable at all. He couldnt recall any of that life changing conversation. Whatever he said or did was, for him, just a matter of course. Nothing the least bit extraordinary at all, at least not to him. But it didnt matter. It saved her life.
Today you might just choose to simply accept just one more constructive thought about something that troubles you. As years go by, you may not even recall it. But who knows what effect it will have? It will have an effect.
Do whatever you can, it will be enough.
