Pigeon symbol?
Two nights ago I had rather a lovely vision. I woke up from sleep to see a square box that contained a cross. I think the cross had arrows on each end that pointed diagonally inside the box. Then this image faded into a flower (I think rose) and a small white dove flew out from the flower. I made a brief note on my phone about this vision but didn't record it properly until last night. I wrote about it in my journal and pondered its significance.
Then today i went into my kitchen and outside my back door was a pigeon. It was just sitting on the ground outside. I looked at it and it looked at me. I thought 'wow, I've never seen one so close up for so long!' Then I looked further up the garden and I saw a row of pigeon feathers up the path. There were loads of them.
Pigeons are common where I live and I've often seen feathers, but not as many as this. I can't help feeling I've been drawn to the pigeon for a reason and it's connected to the vision I had about the dove, especially as I wrote about it last night.
Any thoughts?

In Ted Andrews book, Animal Speak, the key words for pigeon are "Return to the love and security of home. It's cycle of power is year round.
"...Pigeons can teach us how to find our way back when we are lost. They help us to remember and find the love of home and homelife that we have either given up or lost. They are the only bird that can drink by sucking up water into their beaks. This reflects that ability to draw on the energies of home, no matter how distant."
Apparently the totems of dove and pigeon are interchangeable.
Hope this helps a bit :)

Birds are also messengers of the dead. Who in your life just passed on? This could be a symbol to you of their existence, safe and sound, on the Other Side.

Thank you both. Fortunately no one has just passed on that I know of, but homecoming actually makes a lot of sense.
