Sarian and ReikiGEM, wishing you both all the best on your way. Yes Sarian, the book has more to do with God then with your weight ;) but it's a good read, and it just might trigger open that hidden barrier in your mind that keeps you from losing weight.

Good luck to both of you!

I don't use affirmations to stay slim but I believe that food is my friend and is there to be enjoyed. It really works, I stay very slim and eat every kind of food I like.

I have tried to use an affirmation but I haven't been consistent with it so it's no wonder it didn't work. I've also tried to trick myself into losing weight by buying clothes that are a size smaller instead of bigger in the hopes that I would eventually fit into them! Never worked! Ended up giving the brand new clothes to good will! Some still had the tags on them! It's been an endless battle for years for me. I recently discovered that if I look at myself in my daughter's full length mirror I actually look slimmer! Her mirror is slightly warped--to my benefit!! Ha! Ha! I may have to try that book as well. Couldn't hurt, right? Good luck to all of you!

I'm doing well in the weight loss scenario - but that is for now, it is a regular battle and I know that it will be a life long issue.

I don't deny myself (much) but I also focus on eating primarily for nutrients, that my body is asking for certain vitamins, minerals, protein and that I'm looking to nourish it. Flavour, pleasure come second to that and I find I'm happier with less.

I often wonder if during my times of being a glutton - endless packets of chips and dips - yum - I've actually been somewhat malnourished. Despite copious quantities, there may have been a lack of goodness.

So, it's about nourishing the physical and taking care to tend to the body. Loving it comes into that - that's hard for many of us. For me, I love the physical when I'm a little slimmer rather than a generic loving of moi, but I'm working on it.

Rather than focusing on things like 'too much' 'not enough' 'calories' etc I try to think of more positive things such as 'healthy' 'happy' 'nourishing' etc. I find that when I focus on weight loss as a HAPPY goal, to make me healthier of mind and body that it becomes much easier. I know form past experience pressuring myself and associating weight loss with negative feelings (like beating myself up for having a chocolate) make it more difficult.

So yep...positive affirmations work. Spirit always gave me the word 'nourish' so I try to stick with that as a goal :)
