2.
of or pertaining to the spirit or soul, as distinguished from the physical nature: a spiritual approach to life.
3.
closely akin in interests, attitude, outlook, etc.: the professor's spiritual heir in linguistics.
4.
of or pertaining to spirits or to spiritualists; supernatural or spiritualistic.
5.
characterized by or suggesting predominance of the spirit; ethereal or delicately refined: She is more of a spiritual type than her rowdy brother.
The very definition of the word answers your question. To be a spiritual person one must be willing to believe things that do not have a physical explanation.
Being open minded to things that are not easily explained is the beginning of spirituality, in my opinion.
Great question, makes a person think, which is what these forums are for.

I go with these definitions and a multiple approach.

Being spiritual is being "alive" in our mundane world. You have your individuality, your selfhood - no one else can have it, ever. Spirit and soul are what make you what you are.
(Although I think the original question is a bit of a wind-up!)
I'd add a 6th definition: that amber-coloured liquid in the bottle on the shelf with Macallans written on the label.

You're spiritual if you try to walk in the ways of spirit instead of ego.
That's why I call myself spiritual anyhow.

i believe we are pure light spirits in our original form.
then we incarnate into a human body of flesh.
we are still spiritual beings....unfortunately, IN a human body, and on this earth walk, many have just forgotten.
there are those who are more connected to their 'spirit' than others.
