I don't have any personal knowledge of this. I do know that my aunt whom has severe type 2 diabetes said that bitter melons is among one of her "safe" foods to eat.

Is it called the 'Doctrine of signatures' regarding similar shaped herbs to body parts the melon does look somewhat like a pancreas so going off that should help diabetes.
Wonder if it is the same colour as one when ripe?

I would like to try it and it's available at a local farmer's market here. I googled bitter melon recipes and saw several for the melon which is more like a cucumber or zucchini shape, they hollow out the middle and stuff it with a pork filling, I'm sure can use turkey meat or whatever...
