Chakras

I wonder if any one can recommend a good comprehensive book on the chakras.
I would like to use my Aromatherapy knowledge with the chakras so don't necessarily want to know about clearing them, but their function and reasons for not functioning correctly. Thank you

Wheels of Life by: Anodea Judith is a good book for such a thing.

I haven't read any of his books but have a problem with a chakra for a number of years and have gone to numerous healers and psychics to try and figure out what was wrong.Lots didn't even pick up on it even though its a huge issue and the ones that did were actually reading the problem backwards.After 10 minutes , David had brought a whole different perspective to the table and after doing a lot of searching over the last few years, I would have to say he is definitely the most knowledgeable person , by far that I have spoken to about chakras/the energy body so not sure if his any of his books deal with what your looking for but thought I'd mention it.

My teacher and life coach Sri Vasudeva lives in the full awareness of all the chakras in every moment. He has not yet written books on the chakras but when he does they will be the best IMO. He is currently giving all kinds of talks around the world about it which you can access through his website www.blue-star.org I have been transcribing most of these over the last decade and I can tell you the knowledge he is sharing is far beyond what you'll find on the internet, especially as it comes from first hand experience. And if you're REALLY curious, you could go visit his Ashram in Trinidad and experience chakra openings yourself and learn why the world needs to rediscover and tap into this knowledge in order for us to live to our fullest potential.

In the meantime, a book he recommends is The Serpent Power - an ancient text discovered and translated by Arthur Avalon, very easy to read. He referred to it himself during his final transformation in consciousness.

BTW he focuses on the primary seven chakras. If you are someone involved in healing or want to know about all the other chakras related to physical and mental health, then you would need to study books on acupunture and ayurveda and other ancient sciences of the energy body.

There's a book out by doreen virtue I can't remember the name that she writes about chakras, explains issues we may have related to them, foods to eat etc, also includes a meditating CD that you can listen to one for morning and one for night. Very short book but great info.
