Question Flashes of Places During Meditation

After spending a good amount of time just trying to focus (who would have thought that NOT thinking is much more difficult than thinking???), I will find myself briefly seeing flashes of places I've never been or ever seen. The thing is that focusing is a difficulty for me, and I end up losing it or letting my mind wander back into this world.

There was one I recall where it looked like I was in a stone temple on top of a massive hill overlooking a vast landscape, and I saw what looked like to be incense burning in a stone bowl. I've never seen anything close to that in my physical life, but it was so crystal clear.

I was wondering if I'm traveling to these places or if I'm getting some sort of message or answer to my questions or something.

Exploring Images

ROFL about ‘who would have thought that NOT thinking is much more difficult than thinking???’ This is probably a universal experience for those who meditate.

The images you’re having are likely productive. Allow your self to explore them. They may be your connecting w/ another lifetime.

Take a trip, you are an observer, nothing more, gaze in wonder at the universe within you. Your greatest experience....

What i've seen so far was the image of a beautiful stone attached to a necklace.

I just focused on my 3rd eye and woosh! It flashed :)

The stone symbolised pacience.

Just thought i could share

I sometimes get random flashes of people's faces, never a place though.

Rebel Child... Focusing takes time and practice to develop... patience and persistence.

Sometimes it helps to count your breaths... from 1 to 10 and begin again at one... to train your attention.

Many meditation practices teach you to shift into 'witnessing' whatever you experience... which avoids either getting overly involved with the images you're seeing and what they mean, or falling into unawareness. You just watch it all go by.

In fact, a goal of meditation is to recognize yourself as the witness... the consciousness that experiences everything, in meditation and out.
