Creative ideas for Old Records
Does anyone have any creative ideas for what to do with a collection of old records, that no one wants ?

Make a mix tape! :)) Use it to create electronic or house music. Hahaha ;)
Is it Vinyl, CD, or casette?

If they are "collectable" maybe see if you can find someone who would be interested in taking them off your hands for a donation?
If not you could possible give them to a museum or charity?
Maybe a home where the music may be appreciated?
You may also be able to recycle them if you prefered.
If it was me - I think I would try and find them a new home first as the sound from a record is so different to the sound from a cd (has more atmosphere I think) and so they may well be appreciated in specific circles.

Sybilline, they are way before vinyl and I am not exactly sure what you call them, very heavy when carrying a box full of them !

Thanks Ces for the variety of ideas. Actually I was cleaning out an estate, and the records are more of a sentimental value than anything else. I did check with an appraiser, with a general " what do I do ?" type question and she said most charity type places won't even accept the records , basically because there is no way to play them and there is an abundance of old records, not quite as old as these..and the same with record stores, they have way too many records already.
The appraiser did mention an idea she had heard of, take the records, throw them in the air and use them for target practice ! Can you believe it ? I just couldn't do that, she said she couldn't either.

If they're really old, you might ask around at some local museums?

Think you can buy modern players that play them , I have seen them advertised, so someone may want them, are they 78s ? those are about twelve inches across and thick black and heavy.
