Hello, I have a very specific problem. Is there a meditation technique by which I can gain deeper understanding of it, so that I could find a solution? Any help will be appreciated!

What solution is it you're wanting? Often meditation is the practice that will find your solution :)

Right...I don't have much experience with meditation, but I need a solution, so I thought that there should be specific technique for this purpose. If i just meditate for relxation, focusing my mind on breathing, it won't do the job...

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure meditation will tell you an answer as such, but it will increase your intuition, which is obviously our inner guidance system that steers us in the right direction, so this will ultimately point you in the right direction, but it doesn't happen with immediate effects normally. IMO, getting to the core of your issue will perhaps be the best thing. Ask yourself questions, self-inquire, but be very honest with yourself; this usually reveals an awful lot when I use this approach and working backwards asking the questions reveals what's underneath and the next logical step is generally sitting there.

I'm a big advocate of meditation so starting with simple techniques like following your breath, or scanning your body etc will really help. Could also try what Pete says, too

because meditation is not using the mind, it is not problem solving. meditation is taking a break from problem solving so you can approach the problem better after meditation is over. If you try to solve a problem with meditation, you are not really meditating, just engaging thoughts in a different way. Meditation is taking a break from thoughts. the thoughts come in meditation, but the idea is to not follow them, not engage them, and thus get a break from them without ignoring them or trying to run away from them.

meditate. then solve your problem after you meditate, 10-30 minutes after not immediately after.

Got it !
I guess I've been confused. I thought that as one can meditate on the attributes of God, for example, one can also meditate on a specific problem.... Hmmm

nope. And one does not meditate on the attributes, they concentrate on one thing and through the concentration build the necessary skill.

the point is not to better understand the object of concentration, although it might be a side-effect of the meditation, the point is to learn to better concentrate.

Concentration is a foundation skill. When it is mastered higher levels of meditation can be accessed.

there is a meditation technique called dhrana, where you start to focus on the breath for several minutes, quietening the mind, and then while still breathing start to gently run the problem around in your mind whilst asking for a solution. so then you think for a bit and then focus on breathing, ask for help, think again , and an answer or answers will come.

Hm...this seems very useful. I will read more about "dhrana"! Thank you!
