through tender gills
where breath was bated
suffocation killed
where lonely hearts
pain and fears
killed the breath
of my childhood dear
Family terror
generational pain
Childhood barriers
creating shame
building walls
jails that held
the heart of the child
in a prison cell
No more outside
can harm or destroy
the inner child
who lives in JOY..
