What is probability?

Some are just chains of events, For example: You stumble upon a $100 bill on an empty field (let's assume we have no trust issues in this scenario lol). Some would say it was "luck", but really that was a chain of events.

Someone lost it because someone had a hole in his pocket. He had a hole in there because he placed a pair of scissors or whatever sharp object in there. He did that because he just bought this object and he didn't want to walk around holding it. He bought it because he needed it for school/work the following day, because of a project, because he's an art student, because he chose to be one, and so on and so forth (it's amazing what happens with ONE choice).

So now we're really really far from the $100 bill story, but if we look at it that way, it will look like a definite result, not "chance" or "luck".

But what about things that don't "seem" to have a long story behind them? Like you hit the jackpot. Or the results when you flipped a coin (55% chance that the heavier side falls facedown but where does the 45% come from?), when you pick a random card from a deck... Those seem completely random. What "moves" things like that, things that don't "seem" to have an intricate story?

It begs another question... Just how much of anything do we really have control over?...

When I read this I think about choices and how the choices we make affect our future. They say that the future is never set in stone and when psychics look into the future they only see probable futures but because we all have free will no one knows exactly how the future will unfold. Every choice we make we enter a new reality which creates new possibilites. So everytime you come up to a decision moment, whatever decision you make you enter a new reality. Throughout the day we enter many new realities for ourselves. So with regards to the jackpot winner, if your talking about the casino, by deciding to go to the casino he enter a new reality where his chances of winning increased, by deciding to play the slots, he enter a new reality either increasing or decreasing his chances to win, by deciding to play at a particular slot he entered a new reality either increasing or decreasing his chances of winning and so on and so on.
