THE DWELLER ON THE THRESHOLD.

All of us who want to know our true inner spiritual nature, will eventually
come up against "THE DWELLER ON THE THRESHOLD" of deep inner knowing.

The Dweller on the threshold acts as a spiritual mirror reflecting the parts
of us that need healing and transformation by acknowledging and working
through our traumas fears and negative tendencies. We effectively engage
in a transformative process of spiritual maturity.

We can understand that the DWELLER stands at the doorway that will open
into that of full SELF knowing.

THE DWELLER ON THE THRESHOLD,

I first became aware of the dweller on the threshold after reading both books
of THE SECRET DOCTRINE by Madame Blavatsky back in 1977. it was there
that I heard the term of one taking the path of discipleship, in which one
undergoes several stages of initiation each one taken brings about a meeting
with the invisible dweller on the threshold of expanded awareness and
consciousness.

I became aware of what is called the veil of PAROKET which means literally
"the illusion of the ego" . I further discovered that the LATIN word DOMINUS
LIMINIS means the LORD of the threshold.

I became aware that when I was beginning to awaken and was becoming
occultly aware of the SELF, this seemed to invoke the dweller to raise my
awareness of my shortcomings and the need for the practice of humility
rather than being somewhat arrogant at times.

Although it crossed my mind the the dweller was trying to put me of the
path of higher understanding and dispelling the blanket of ignorance that
was within me. I concluded that is was really there to bring out the best
within me.

This reminds me of the Golden Dawn (et. al.) syllabus. The Veil of Paroketh, located on the Middle Pillar of the Tree of Life, situated along the path of Samekh, is like a vast mirror trying to coax one into the false reality that the world of superficial appearances (viz. symbolism, rituals, dogmas, and beliefs) can lead one to real spiritual attainment. It is where you first learn that "silence is the safeguard of all magical and mystical work," or at least that's how I've come to subsequently frame it. The path of Tau is where the Ego gets jarred loose, but it is on the path of Samekh where one really starts to pry at it. The ahamkara is fueled by attachments; attention to those attachments nourishes them, while silence causes them to starve--it's the same mechanism involved when trying to overcome a habit, only it seems "deeper" when the traits being targeted constitute one's very personality and individuality. Sorry, I digress.

Those two things are not mutually exclusive, as you know. Though this "Dweller" is traditionally held to be an embodiment or amalgamation of every necessary obstacle on the spiritual path up to that point, it isn't untrue that in being so it is a blessing in disguise as it were: provided one makes it past, of course! Beyond the Dweller at Samekh lies That which all of the philosophies and scriptures are but a cheap imitation; in Golden Dawn terms it confers Adepthood; the uniting of the red rose with the golden cross. You learn that love functions by way of dissolving perceived boundaries, and not by grasping. "The Tao that can be named is not the real Tao."

The DWELLER ON THE THRESHOLD

Blessings WAGNER and thank you for your post on this thread, I am grateful
for your words.

You reminded me of a blessing that was said by Rosicrucians that i heard
many years ago which was "may the rose on the cross of calvery bloom in
your heart today". I have never forgot that blessings i heard 40 years ago,

regards michael.

The DWELLER ON THE THRESHOLD.

It is important to note that the DWELLER on the threshold is not the same as a personality disorder or other psychiatric condition . The DWELLER is a
spiritual concept representing obstacles to spiritual growth.

Any one of us who are entering into the profound silence within will if
persisted in, will indeed encounter the Dweller along their pathway to
expanded consciousness and spiritual awakening.

blessings michael,

Dweller on the Threshold

Blessings Native spirit, for your kind input here on this thread.

The dweller on the threshold can be seen as a "shadow form" that lies within
your inner being, I never even knew of this "shadow form" until I almost
died of chronic alcoholism, and fell to the floor and asked the great white
Spirit to help me.

This instant divine help that I was given, set me on a path of looking within
and seeking the silence that arises when all thoughts are ceased.

It was then that I became aware of this inner "shadow form" of the dweller.
I was helped a lot by the fellowship of A A who have as part of their 12 step
recovery program, a step which asks us to take a fearless moral inventory
of ourselves, and when wrong promptly admit it.

This inner house cleaning helped me a great deal and continues this day
after fifty years of practice.

The Dweller now is my friend, and looks out for me, and if I err. will whisper
in my ear, stay in the middle lane of expression.

blessings michael.
