In Hinduism people worship monkeys and those who beleive in personality cults may say God has monkey-personalities.

For example if you look at the Buddha's idol in China or Japan, the Buddha has a Mongolian cut and if you have it in India an Aryan cut. This confuses us if we seek personality in God. God is therefore not a personality

Hmm. You can't be a personality (that's only in the tabloids/lol)...I don't seek a personality in my coworkers or family or friends, they are simply apparent. Their ethnicity is part and parcel of anyone's personality, including 'gods' or prophets.

I'd say a lot of forum members would believe that god not only does not 'rise above and over' but as in the walrus song, Lennon says we are he and so on, lol. I tend to believe that we are all part of one another. I vote that "god(s)" have personalities NOT that they ARE a personality...

We humans have been used to seeing stuff made from our early days. Thus, we grew up with the idea that everything has a creator.
We then make the conclusion that there must be a upper-creator, that has created the universe. So we conclude that since we have personalities, the upper-creator must have one too.

Man created God in man's image.

Which personality would be God? There are so many personalities. All these Gods are just cultural phenomena.

Our human gods would seem so one-dimensional the way you seem to be looking at it. Something that big (even if only in our imaginations) has to have more facets than just going whiz-bang and here we all are...and if a (and I get that you don't believe in a creator ~ or am I mistaken on that?) creator has the power to do all this, how is it that IF there were a creator or creators, how logical would it seem that this creator is some cold calculating robot or something? Gee hmm i wonder.

We only have to look at the uniqueness of the posters on this thread to see different 'personalities'. However I would say that 'personality' is only an aspect of the Individual and actually, could be said to block the natural authentic uniqueness of the Individual from fully shining.

I would say that God encompasses the all, so in a way, that kind of is a uniqueness in itself.

So, you're saying if one has (as Rick Dees has said) a "charisma and personality bypass," we will all shine more (our individual value become windowcased)?

I believe that there are creative forces at work, but no big creator god. I don't really understand what you're trying to say further on. It's actually the idea of a creator that justifies the idea of a sudden creation of the human race.

Yes, I think so too. Just because our personality is illusionary does not mean our individuality is an illusion. Just my 1 cent.

individuality is quantifiable to t he mind.
but it can be further breakdown to the point that individuality can also lose its meaning.

So god is an illusion AND our personalities, which I thought individuality are one and the same WITH our personalities, are, too?

haha yes. that quote has made me chuckle :)

I think there is a natural unique essence or flavour. The personality we develop is not separate from this so we could say its an aspect, but actually if it was 'bypassed' altogether that natural authentic flavour would be windowcased more.

Its kind of like we are light houses each with a unique colour of light. The dirt on the windows (the personality) is not separate from the light house but blocks the unique light from shining so clearly and vibrantly.
