I'm glad you are going to the doc. If your emotions are out of control try to get a blood run to check the balance of progesterone vs oestrogen in particular what type of oestrogen you have. There is good oestrogen and bad oestrogen and I have no good oestrogen. It makes for wild emotions amongst other things. The doc prescribed me the pill which was good for a month to manage the emotions but I am trying more natural routes to get my emotions - well my hormones - back on track. Worth seeking alternative routes alongside conventional medicine - which one you try is up to you. I feel for you.

I can understand the pain and emotional upheavels with this monthly occurence. I had 8 fibroid tumors on my uterus along with monthly migraine headaches. Please check with your gynocologist for some relief.
Ibuforen is a wonder drug for me. I wish I had it back then. Now I use it for gout pain, arthritis, headaches, etc.
Take care,
Merrie

Hon... So sorry that you're in so much pain every month. It's probably fibroids that are giving you so much pain. I belong to a natural health forum that is devoted to iodine supplementation. There are many woman who used to have painful heavy periods and supplementing with iodine (Iodoral) has helped normalize their hormones and dissolve the fibroids. The link to the forum is: http://curezone.com/forums/f.asp?f=815. I also recommend getting a copy of Dr. David Brownstein's book from Amazon: I odine, Why You Need It, Why You Can't Live Without It. You can order Iodoral online at many places. You can google it for the best price, or you can get it from Amazon when you order Dr. Brownstein's book.

My old gyno told me that it was just something some women go through and suggested over the counter menstral cramp meds and a heating pad.

Bummers that you have to go through the severe pains. I hope you are feeling better and your doctor can come up with a solution that will make you more comfortable. I agree with getting a complete blood panel done. I have heavy menses and my test showed that I was anemic and vitamin D deficient. I used to get frequent headaches associated with being anemic. Iron pills took care of it. For the heavy bleed, my doctor recommended Lysteda. It's not for everyone, but the Lysteda really lightened up my period by at least 50%.
There are herbs that reduces cramping and shorten or lighten menstral periods like Cramp Bark and Shepherd's Purse. I'm thinking of using them but haven't taken the plunge yet.

Red Raspberry tea leaves also decreases cramps and menstrual flow.

Hi Wildflower,
I too use a heating pad and it's never really been bad enough for me to take meds, but even then without some kind of hot compress the pain's nearly unbearable so I know it must really hurt :((
Of course you should see a doctor if you haven't already, I also read somewhere that stress can worsen it somehow, and this one, I think might sound stupid, but wine works wonders for me and my sister in law. Don't do it if you don't already drink wine...

I woke up screaming in pain this morning. Now I have to go to work, be on my feet for 10 hours running around like a mad woman.
I don't know how to make it though out the day.
I use a heating pad and take no more than the directed dosage of pain medication but even that doesn't do anything.
Until I can get to the doctors, does anyone know of any natural remedies to help with the pain?!?!
