At the essential teachings, and at the mystical level, all the faiths are saying the same thing.
God wants the personal relationship with us.

As prophesied through the many ages, in the writings, the Messiah was sent.

What keeps getting left out, is the evidence in the Old Testament, as well as the realization, in the New.
The Foundation was well laid, and Jesus is the fulfillment.

I see religions similar in that they're about people that want to, or live in harmony with the universe, which is mostly about our immediate environment. The beliefs can be just about anything, but will always have themes relating to our own experience of life. It could involve a God, gods, or zero gods.

Environment plays a big part in how the beliefs arise and evolve, which are different for various groups. One may reach an entirely different conclusion than the other about the universe. Some groups may value being able to destroy enemies and another value peace resolution. The beliefs vary as our situations vary.

We derive a view of the rest of the world from our beliefs. The world might be un-enlightened to us, or be sinners headed for destruction, or maybe everyone is already enlightened to us. The point is we see the world from our own perspective, but others can have a different view which is not the same. We might think all people are searching for God, but other religions might see it a little different, or much different, and may not believe in Gods at all.

I read about a primitive tribe that was very peaceful and harmonious, yet didn't 'believe' in anything. They only believed what can be seen. So if you tried to tell them about Jesus, they would believe you until they realized you had never met him in person. Then they would think you probably have some kind of mental problem because to them, the only thing that exists is what can be seen. How their universe came to be is not even a question, because none of them were there when it started, and don't know anyone who was. What happens after they die? Another ridiculous question, no one comes back from the dead.

Don't tell me, tell the tribe that believes that way. I was just giving an example of how not all people need religious/spiritual faith in order to live in peace and be happy.
