The approach for positive change, especially to spiritually evolve, is not all that hard to intellectually understand but the application takes a great deal of practice and experience.
That shaman probably channeled a group entity that extended his life. Another example is
Prahlad Jani, "an Indian breatharian sadhu who claims to have lived without food and water since 1940. He says that the goddess Amba sustains him."
Amba is a group entity of Hindu spirits.
