Do you believe in following your instincts/"gut feelings"?

Do you believe our intuition (our "gut feeling") is usually correct?

For example, there is this one guy I know who has always given me bad vibes. I could never really explain why, but anytime he was around me, I just felt a really negative energy and was almost scared of him, even though by all appearances he seemed "normal" on the outside. Later on I found out there were several other people who felt the same way about him and couldn't explain why, so I felt better that I wasn't the only one.

Sure enough, later on down the road, we all found out that this guy was not a nice person at all and was apparently known for treating people badly and also had a criminal record. So that reaffirmed my belief to follow my instincts even if I couldn't explain them.

Do you think that if multiple people get a bad vibe from someone, that it's probably a sign to stay away from them?

No... Even though there may be truth in it, feeling people's vibes isn't something you should rely on all the time. For example someone with negative energy/vibes may just have been through a lot of misery and is living in a mental state of hell. Not really a valid reason to shun someone. As long they are nice to you, no matter what their vibes may feel like, what's the problem? I know myself that the vibes I'm sending off might cause PTDS to some overly sensitive people, and even though I am far from a saint, among my own moral codes is to never deliberately screw someone for no good reason and treat everyone like you want to be treated yourself.

In your case the feeling from the bad vibes you were getting from the guy, that was your spirit using intuition to warn you.

I drove taxi cabs for many years, both day and night shift. I quickly learned that trusting my intuition/gut instinct was a good idea. 12 years driving and I never got assaulted or robbed. Not a bad run if I do say so myself.

I trust my intuition is as far as I believe I know its limits.

Not necessarily so.

Multiple people, may group due to commonalities. If that commonality is not spiritually based, they may all get a bad vibe (from themselves) about a person who is spiritually based.

Most people tend to crucify the truthful.

I believe our intuition is always correct, but very often we've lost touch with it due to an overlay of fear, guilt, doubt, confusion, etc. - all forms of negativity, resistance. I think you have to come to a place of stillness and calm in order to really hear (or feel) what your intuition's telling you.

Also, I think intuition is very much a personal thing. So, taking the example you mentioned of the guy with the bad vibes, one person's intuition may be saying, 'Steer clear of this guy', and another person's intuition may be saying, 'He needs your help'. All depends on your level of consciousness, I think, the right course of action can differ from person to person.

I would say I always follow my gut instinct but that isn't the case. My gut instinct if coming through unpolluted is always correct.

I find very very often that if I actively go against or Do Not follow my gut instinct I am proven to myself to have been right and I end up figuratively kicking myself in the behind.

So yes I believe my gut instinct is infallably right. I do not however, always follow it when I should. I am trying to work on this and it is in part a reason why I post here at SF, to come to trust my inner knowing more.
