The Meaning of Rescue
I found this at the rescue where I volunteered for 3 years. I don't know who wrote it but I know who didn't write it. (Me).
The Meaning Of Rescue
Now that I’m home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked up in my new bed,
I’d like to open my baggage, lest I forget.
There is so much to carry, so much to regret.
Hmmm…. Yes, there it is, right on the top,
Let’s unpack loneliness, heartache and loss
And there beneath hides fear and shame
I still have to unpack my baggage called pain.
I loved them - the others, why couldn’t they see
But I wasn’t good enough - for they didn’t want me.
Will you carry my baggage, will you help me unpack,
Or will you look at my things and take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me recover;
The joy of living - to help me discover?
I pray that you do - I’m so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage, will you still want me?

That is so nice of you to find such a writing and share it here with us.
It's so bittersweet, but I think it's a very cool poem.

Oh my gosh that's so cute! I felt like crying. I rescued two cats, technically three because I found the other one and there's no feeling like it in the world to know that you gave these animals a forever home! Hehe that rhymed.

There's another one that was on their website that I thought was good - got to find it now. Once again I did not write it, probably post it on this thread if that's OK (save starting a new thread) Edit my post in a sec .......
Edit: Here we go:
REJECTION!
Rescued kittens, full of fun,
The people take their pick
And leave behind the older one.
She's lonely, so heartsick.
She's 9 years old, and every day
The people pass her by.
Don't want an older cat, they say,
Don't even want to try.
We want a kitten we can “train”
Not one set in her ways.
So in the shelter she'll remain
For many lonely days.
Pretty cats with fluffy fur
May get that second chance.
But ordinary mogs like her
Don't even rate a glance.
She feels her heart's about to break,
A picture of dejection.
And many times she'll have to take
This thoughtless, sad rejection.
She'd give out all the love she could,
You see it in her eyes.
If cats could cry real tears, she would,
And she can't verbalize.
She cannot speak to those that come
To choose; she can't appeal.
Oh, why did God make animals dumb
So they can't say how they feel?

Awww that was so cute! I rescued an elderly cat two years ago but she died a year later. This is why I don't want to get an elderly cat again, because it broke my heart. But I feel so bad for all of those elderly cats!

That one really touched my heart bd. I love cats a whole lot. I used to almost always own one, but since my last Fluffy cat died near Christmas of '09, I didn't have the energy to care for them. He was the last one I ever owned but he was the best.
