I don't know. . . personally, I'd be delighted having a beautiful, maintenance-free house that cost me nothing, that didn't require heating or lighting or air conditioning, in a world without aging, injury, sickness, death, crime, war, conflict of any sort, where I didn't have to work for a living but where I could work at job(s) that interested me, with an eternity to read books and learn to do the things I never learned to do on earth. . .

What I meant was,if I don't understand the subject,I will seek info to give me an idea so I can give some understanding of what is being discussed.

Not much of a surprise!

The author, Richard Matheson, states that his book was the result of much research from many books - there are five pages of bibliography. So not exactly, quote, ".....based on Life in the World Unseen."

He also states "....only one aspect of it is fictional:the characters and their relationships. With few exceptions, every other detail is derived exclusively from research."

I'm enjoying reading it again - I'd forgotten almost everything. But thus far I still prefer the movie.

I understand.

I ask many questions but receive few answers. Thankfully most times my questions aren't to get answers for me but to try to stimulate folk to thinking along different lines.

Occasionally, though, I have had some illuminating and useful answers to issues over which I have struggled in the past.

The problem I find is that an interesting topic can suddenly go off subject (I'm as guilty as anyone else) then the point is lost and I lose interest.
Or it turns into a battle and we lose the plot completely.

Accurate to all counts,Mac. My memory of the preface in the book is exactly that.
I enjoyed the movie but what annoyed me was part of the story was changed from the book. That is why I enjoyed the book more than the movie,the book I felt was more substantial in the telling of the afterlife than the movie.
I rest my case!
