Spirit guides purpose

I think so many get caught up in what their guides look like or who they were, does it really matter? I dont say that to be cynical but in the grand scheme, they're there to help you and guide you so I think sensing them and feeling them at times is more reassuring-at least for me.

I got caught up so many times in trying to identify mine that I lost perspective and finally just gave in to the feeling of when they are near me. Now I can tell when they are around or are trying to get me to pay attention to something important by sensation. It's helpful without focusing on too much detail.

When I gave up trying to place an identity, I believe thats when things really started to open and flow easier for me. What about you?

How do you know you have spirit guides? Did you believe first?

(sorry this isn't responsive to your question) Thanks for sharing it btw.

Hi,

I think and feel it is best to examine and evaluate the insights you are receiving.

Most of us want to know the source or identity of that information provider. We are conditioned to look for authorities to guide us in life. I find it best to become self empowerment and make my life choices the best way that I can.

John

I'm not sure whether i have spirit guides or other types of guides, other than they guide me, and they're beautiful, angelic and very kind. Still, they don't know everything, or say, they can't tell me everything, but they're nice to be around.

I visualize them in my mind, but i've also seen them in lucid dreams, regular dreams, exquisitely clearly and consistently, as well as in certain meditative states. The images they give me are gorgeous.

So yeah, i know what they want to look like to me, still, the last time we talked about it one explained that they could really look like anything i wanted.

I was never able to see and I suppose I wasn't meant to or like you've implied - it wasn't important.

I recently asked to see and was given a vision in real life. The face that appeared to me out of beautiful coloured lights really surprised me. He wasn't a traditional angel, he was a Hindu teacher, which is amazing because I had no notion of Hinduism. I now have a great teacher and have applied beneficial steps to progress on my spiritual journey. Seeing reinforced my faith and give me a solid direction.

That sounds absolutely beautiful, Moongrass

I did have a lot of want in seeing my spirit guides at first. When I stopped making that my focus I began to see much more of them and also learn more about them. My main way of seeing them is through a visualisation exercise where I meet with my spirit guides in a meeting room for guidance. One of them helped me identify not their appearance but the kind of personality or essence of them by showing me a character for a TV show I had watched. I believe they draw on your memories for reference. You're allowed to make it up as you go along and if it's incorrect you'll get the feeling you can't imagine them with blonde hair, for example, it just won't show as a visual clearly.

I still don't see their faces all too clearly - both visualisation or shamanic journeys - which is unusual because I'm quite visual and find it hard to forget a face. I get a rough impression of the face but no detail but that is how it is for now

I’ve been trying to communicate with mine for a while

I’m often pulled, directed or moved towards her but I am never allowed to see her face.

When I speak to her she seems elusive, I sense she doesn’t feel I am ready to connect with her.

I am given simply what I need to know, not what I want to know, and weirdly I’m finding this is actually not only a good lesson for me, but causing personal growth.

I think personally they do whatever they feel you are ready to experience

That's true, I've found the same. It's hard to hear them when you're worrying what they look like. But when you just go with feeling you find out sooner or later.

It took a good 4 months of trying before i got a good look at them. It wasn't easy at first. I can see them very well now, but it i practice every day and it's been 10 months.
