I think if you hung a penny over a child's bed and explained to them that this will help you have good dreams, that they will have good dreams. The dream catcher offers a symbolic example of this and something more concrete to believe in.
Symbolism is so important IMO and so helpful for us as it allows us to tap into the power associated with believing and with intention.
So I guess what I'm saying is that it's a relationship between what the dream catcher represents and the power within you that it ignites that makes them so special.

I've had a dream catcher for a few years now. I've started to wonder if there is any ceremony or blessings that are 'supposed to be performed' for a dream catcher.

What makes a dream catcher a dream catcher? I picked mine up around the grand canyon. There was a bunch of little booths on a lookout where people were selling them. It was the closest to authentic that I think I can get.

If you got in from the Grand canyon you more or less bought it from the Navaho they are the biggest tribe
