Donnie Darko haunts me to this day---I am drawn to this movie, and to the soundtrack, and the mood of the whole production.

Another overrated movie. I don't understand the cult following this terrible movie has except maybe that Jake Gyllenhal was in it playing the part of a sensitive and disturbed young man. But that's just all the more reason for me not to like it.
They made a sequel to this movie about Sarah Darko, Donnie's sister, that sucked also.

Not overrated, but a creative, original and unique bit of moviemaking in a surreal somewhat psychedelic sense. There was nothing like it before it came out and for that it has my kudos.
It definitely entertained.

the sequel wasn't very good i agree but loved the original...like an alternative goth super hero who saves the world in the strangest way i could never have thought up
