Findings through meditation

Ive been meditating for a few years now and have slowly gained a little wisdom. I need some help from some veterans though. I really want to find the answer to the question "who am I?". To really be able to know myself. This obviously takes some time, at least for me. Has anyone found the answer for themselves, and how is this obtained?

Also, i would really love to bring memories from past lives into my physical consciousness. Advice?

ggpeace, greetings.

meditation is usually a long road, and some methods/techniques will take you futher than others. may i enquire which method/technique you are using. it sounds as though you wish to explore the deepest levels of self knowledge and is the hardest to achieve. you say that you want to bring past lives into your "physical" consciousness. consciousness has no physical attributes its pure spiritual energy and contains all the knowledge of your existence. the journey of meditation first masters the mind then goes deeper into consciousness which then has to be realised. realisation of this is the goal of self knowledge. if i can be of any further help... don't hesitate to ask.

I lay down with my eyes closed and think to myself "who am I?". Not necessarily the words, but the thought of the question. And trying to hold on to this thought for as long as i can. I usually try about 30-60 min per day.

When i say physical consciousness i basically mean consciousness, not the subconscious mind. Bringing memories from deep in the subconscious mind to the forefront of the conscious mind, so that when i wake up and im conscious i can remember everything.

I realize not many people can help with this but id like to hear what people have to say.

seeker, greetings.

have read your reply with interest and think i have some idea of your practice and if i may i would like you to consider the following suggestions. if as you suggested in your previous post that it is your intention to pursue self knowledge then i would strongly recommend that you consider adopting a different posture in which to meditate. posture is extremely important in meditation especially for your chosen path. you would do much better by mastering the lotus position. self realisation is dependant on learning to raise spiritual energy through a number of esoteric practices which are very complex and not without risk. these cannot be practiced or mastered by laying down. allthough you can procede alone and gain some progress you will in time reach your limitations and then you are going to need to engage the teaching and guidance of a qualified GURU. what ever you do don't be mis-guided by new age books on the subject. feel free to ask further questions if you wish, in the meantime take care.....peace.

I like to read Ramana on this subject. Easy to find on google search...

Well, GG... If you're trying to hold onto the question/thought how can you become aware of the answer?

The question "Who am I?" does not have a verbal or conceptual answer. It comes simply in the silent awareness as you come to notice it, beyond the mind.
