Hadn't heard of that before. Never heard of anyone not affected whatsoever, but then again... that's not typically as interesting to discuss-write about.

A few lovely short stories-experiences about meeting Maharaji ,(Neem Karoli Baba)
Few of us get to hang out with a saint , enlightened master, so i love to hear others experiences who were there

Foe one it may be to learn more about courage, or love, or manifesting a talent, or teaching others.
It's not necessarily like a liberal arts college, where we all learn a bit of everything, I'd expect.

Possibly Ram Dass was shaped by his guru, As he was a strong willed Harvard professor, and needed to learn humility.

Regardless, without compassion, acceptance of perceived differences, world peace will forever remain a fantasy.

But can one really learn anything while holding to beliefs as if they were so such as the belief that we 'incarnated'?

With such a perspective, we can only learn from that perspective and it is just a belief so we would only have learned what we want to learn. ..

We cannot help but "learn" from life experiences, regardless of beliefs.
Our mind shapes & chooses, but the soul does not. IMO

This is only my viewpoint. One among many.
Also, varied gurus emphasize different things, Krishnamurti, Neem Karoli, The Dali Lama/(buddhists) , the Columbian Kogi or Hopi
all have somewhat different priorities in what they teach-emphasize.

Well, "soul" would be another one of those perspectives keeping one from only seeing from that perspective.

One explanation, Kryon I believe, is that soul is all of our selves, everything-non material.
Hardly anyone really understands-agrees what soul "is" anyway.

It worked on others that took it. I guess what I may be alluding to is that the above story (of taking acid to no effect) may not necessarily indicate having a heightened/spiritual state, just an unusual brain to start with. They say there's a thin line between genius and madness....

Psychopaths and Saints do share some aspects of expanded consciousness, but they are polar opposites in other aspects. The powers of the mind are available to everyone, but their utilization is another matter, whether in line with spirit, or in line with ego.

This astonishing photo says more about compassion than any 3 books.
