This documentary was first shown on BBC television in 2002...

I'm looking forward to watching this after dinner tonight. Have you had a near-death experience, Knightofalbion?

No, not as yet...

What did you think of the video may I ask? I'd welcome feedback. Do you think it's worth promoting elsewhere?

I haven't researched this subject a lot, but I'm interested because my father -- who passed away a year ago -- had a similar experience when he was clinically dead after suffering a massive heart attack when he was only 40, and I have a friend who has been quite open about his near death experience. (You can look him up on youtube, Peter Panagore, and he also has a new book about his experience coming out soon.)

I thought the documentary was well-done because it presented both sides of the belief spectrum. I know that I do not know what happens after we pass from this life, but I tend to believe that "we" exist after (and before) this Earth life based on my own experiences and listening to others' experiences such as those described by the people in the video. I think I am past the point of wanting the outcome/situation that I want -- I mean, who wouldn't prefer continuing on experiencing love after "death" -- and that my belief is not just based on wishful thinking. Although, one of the reasons I like documentaries such as the one you shared is because it adds more evidence that my belief could be part of "the truth."

After watching the video, the main thought that stayed with me is that it doesn't matter if these experiences were valid glimpses into life after death or if they're some phenomena that can be explained scientifically -- these experiences were the impetus for each person to profoundly change their lives for the better, which brings more positive energy and love into this world. That is all that matters right now :)

Do you have a personal interest in promoting this video? I think it would be of interest to a wide variety of people and if you have other places to share it, I think you should.

Have a beautiful day!

Good video. I liked how they had a scientific approach to NDE without a collection of random stories...

Thank you for posting this link, Knight.

I think Dr Susan Blackmore is going to get the most remarkable experience of her life when she passes.... she might end up saying "Oops..got that a bit wrong then....!"

It's very good and worth promoting elsewhere. I hav'nt experienced this but my mother did when she was 14, it made a big believer of her. When she died at age 60 she felt that she knew what to expect.

A lovely post, dear Primrose. Thank you.

And that's just it isn't it. Orthodoxy has turned death from a spiritual 'changing of the seasons' into a dreaded, frightening darkness.
I think it is good to talk about death and to disseminate knowledge about the hereafter, provided of course that it is positive and accompanied with wise guidance...
