Well, sometimes we have to trust, I believe. Although if your sign seems very negative or perhaps scary and you don't get a good feeling with it then you can, if you so choose, ignore it. |

I think what everyone is trying to tell you is that this all depends on what you're asking God to send you a sign for. Prayer is pretty much the de facto way to go about it. Just ask God for what it is that you want. And to send you a sign concerning whatever aspect of that initial request is troubling you.
Say you want a confirmation of a mentor or a lover coming into your life. Simply ask God (or one of his angels, if you believe in them) to send you a sign that would personally resonate with you on a heart / soul level that you would understand. Then, upon receiving said sign, you would take the appropriate actions based off of your honest, initial reactions from said sign.
If the sign feels like a bad sign for you, then that normally means that confirmation is in the negative for that request, for whatever reason. Vice versa if it feels like a good sign. Nothing else is required, except faith and trust.
You'll feel it in your heart and body as a physical sensation if something is good or bad for you. Follow your heart and trust yourself. Ask God for what you feel you need the most in your life right now. Let everything else take care of itself.
