Coaxing the Night Away Gently
Dawn lifts Her mist woven veil,
Revealing Her fresh maiden's face.
Virgin smile sparkling on mirror lakes,
Supplicant cattail fringing Her brow.
Long Legged Heron, poised and sharp,
Rippling circles at his crooked knee,
Wavering the image of Dawn's first sky,
The moon fading in the blue of Her cheek.
Coaxing the Night away gently,
Replacing pale silver with gold.
Raising the Sun as a glory crown,
To wear with the gaudy colors of Day.

Beneath The Guardian Trees
We sit with our backs,
To the wild, whispering darkness,
Knee to knee, a circle of friends,
Faces illuminated by the fire and love.
A flame encased log shifts,
Golden sparks ascend like prayers.
Out in the night a singular drum begins,
Sounding like the heart beat of the Forest.
Your eyes are alight with fire and knowledge,
Pupils wide with atavistic rememberings.
How pleasantly surprised are We to find,
OurSelves where We have always been.
