But if you are striving to be something other than who you are now, you are not being yourself, are you? You are trying to be someone else, someone you think you should be due to some ideal. I think this is the cause of great unhappiness. If you want to be happy, accept yourself as you are right now, as what you are doing right now, there is nothing to strive for, and no mistakes are possible. This is the perfection of imperfection (I think the Chinese call it wu-wei).

I would agree that this CAN be a source of great unhappiness. But I also Love myself and so forgive myself each day for falling short of perfection. Then I get up and go try it again. Push as hard as you can and be OK with never quite hitting the mark.

Yes, one must learn to make peace where they are. One cannot not-be, and Being is not not about effort or struggle, yet it is also not against effort or struggle, for everything has its time and place. Therefore, the affirmation is meant to act as a bridge to help the seeker realize Wholeness, while allowing effort and expansion to happen through them. It is about seeking the "path of least resistance" to realizing Divinity/Perfection as Being Here-and-Now. For those that see it, the affirmation is a spiritual joke, intended to trigger a direct, inner experience of effortlessness of Being, for Being is the true "doing" and "having."

Being the "best you" as conveyed by Bashar and I means ALLOWING the purest sense of Self to be actualized in you. It is therefore an affirmation of unconditional Self-love.

'You' are not being other than what 'you' are. There are things to strive for though, like to play the piano one strives in practice to play better music. If one is crippled in an accident he strives to walk again in phisiotherapy. If one wants to climb everest he strive in the cold snow to reach the summit. Striving is not being other than who you are, it is directing full attention toward accomplishment and productivity.
