I remember that painting in the Bhagavad Gita, Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada version, of the animal bodies as a possible incarnation. I was handed the Gita in an airport as a kid by a Hare Krishna. Loved all the paintings in that book. I thought about joining the Hare Krishnas some as a kid. I loved the violet incense they sold. I got the oil too.

Vrndavan Flower is a majestic scent.
Can be ordered online, but some fakes about. Re learning, we can learn by direct experience or and by finding and testing a bona fide expert and trusting the knowledge they impart.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

food and next birth

As per Bhagvad Geeta food and next birth are not directly related .
As per Chapter 14 verse 15 those dying in the mode of ignorance/darkness take birth in the animal kingdom. Any people can be under the influence of ignorance/darkness.

For the infinite God (with earth as a dot in His vast universe ) human species is just an animal species with special features (like extra intellect ,civilization history, better pronunciation capability, developed languages/sciences/technology and built up knowledge pools etc) and common features like sleep, hunger, fear and sex. For the God all its species are equal and He just facilitates every one as per their development/preference/requirements . While law of attraction (LOA) and Karma too can be at play at times , primary driver is law of evolution (as enunciated in aforesaid verse) .If the person leaves stagnatic , ignorant life in darkness or he/she abhors conditions of human life like (studying long years , getting and staying in gainful job/relationships ,knowing/following social norm / practices / laws /restrictions/commitments/clothing etc) is natural fit for animal life . So God just to relieve one of the burdens of human existence may grant animal life.

So if a meat eating person does not fit above , he/she may not get animal birth in next life.

Now whether man is naturally vegetarian or non-vegetarian is a different question . Large pointed teeth , big mouth , drinking water by tongue, sharp nails , smaller intestines etc are the common traits of carnivorous species .Exactly opposite are the traits of herbivore animals. Now how we compare human traits in which category will be the answer for our natural food .
