How does one move from contact to connect?
Meditation mode
Prayer mode
Ego surrendered (so we imagine)
What are the key attributes that enable us to move from contact to connect?

Contact vs Connect... let’s see... need clarity...
So we take out time for meditation... going inwards basically. Intuitive attention peaked and then rested, we are in contact... within but where is the ignition? Anyway, sooner or later we are likely to be blessed to be connected with the divine energy automatically. What facilitates the connection? That’s the question.
Thoughts rested... so it cannot be thought. In any case during meditation, thoughts are rested at the gateway of experience and for a lack of a more suitable word, the emotion aspect in us takes over... that’s how we experience. Ok
So what do we have left to work with? Let us list the candidates:
Love:
Always sounds good, this word. Kind of makes us feel more evolved. Delusion obviously. Love is not a pretended emotion. We are either love enabled or we are not. Period.
The actual love is divine love, uncalculating, unconditional and without discrimination. It does not depend upon the response of the other. Once we merge our consciousness into the divine current, we take on, to some measure it’s love attribute. Assimilation takes time.
A catch-22 situation here. To emote love, we need to first entwine with the divine. Not there yet so I guess we scratch this out, even at the risk of being ridiculed. Cannot have any pretence, no matter how fashionable if we are searching for the truth.
Hang on! We are not love enabled, so what’s the next best thing we’ve got? Devotion, longing, a burning desire to be That. Visualisation involved here since we do not know until we know. Still, may work...or maybe not.
Surrender:
What are we surrendering? The ego. What is the ego? All that is self serving in the external world...when we display anger, greed, lust, fear, desire... grossness. Sounds good. We need to surrender the gross to engage in the subtle. Cannot have the cake and eat it too.
So we transform, change. Takes time, since habits of old need to be erased slowly and reviewed during contemplation very often. Regulating thought is evident...
So we can accept this as an essential preparation for meditation, a prerequisite. But having done that, inner cleansing of our consciousness accomplished, we are ready to welcome the guest into our home but it still does not enlighten us about how we may connect.
Childlike trust:
That’s it! We demand, as would a child. We then surely cannot be denied.
That’s the orientation to adopt... did I hear someone at the back saying that this combines love & surrender?
LOL

Put that smile on your face.
Neville Goddard wrote a thin book on Feeling is the Thing...or something like that...all about feeling. $6 online.

sigh. Now if only someone would 'get' that the so-called 'positive' emotions everyone is after don't tell the whole story...
