Kalesvara mudra
Hello to everyone reading. I have been doing meditation with vayu and apan vayu mudras for a while, so far they both work as they were meant to. Yesterday though, I decided to try something else - I did 15 minutes of meditation using the kalesvara mudra - what I found on various sites is that it should calm the mind and diminish the number of thoughts going through the head (which is perfect for me, at least in theory, because I have an anxiety disorder and a restless mind). So, during the meditation I had what I would describe as a "wave of anxiety", something I did not ever had with other mudras. It was so random and surprising. I decided to continue, but shortly after I stopped, because I couldn't concentrate anymore. Today I feel like I have too much energy. I don't feel anxious, but I am at, like an unrest? So I'm a complete opposite of calm. Funny thing is, I have a friend who is a beginner in mudra meditation too. She also did kalesvara mudra yesterday, and... Exact same results. For now I don't plan on continuing with this mudra, but could someone explain as to why that happened?

I have no idea when it comes to tremors. As for the nervousness, it definitely helps, or at least it helps me. From what I've read I am a Vata Dosha mainly, so it's only natural for me to use the Vayu. I'm no specialist, but when meditating with it the results are instant, so I believe it to be the case (I should do it more regularly however - I have trouble with doing things routinely). As for the Apan Vayu, it's a great way to reduce stress or anxiety-induced heart palpitations (which I do have), but if you don't have it, I think the Vayu will be enough to do the job.
As I said though, I'm no specialist, so I can't guarantee that it will work for you, but it's probably worth giving a try.

Hi Adam, to fully help you I would need to know what you are focusing on when you are using the mudra?

I try to let all the negative thoughts go (actually, any thoughts), kind of like observing them, but not discussing with them, then when I get calm I focus on a bright light that I see and which is surrounding me - that wasn't the case with Kalesvara though, I couldn't get past the "thoughts part", because it made me more nervous than calm.

Hi
I am exactly the same also get heart palpitation, tremors and have an anxiety in my chest just an horrible sensation like when my heart beats it feels fast but its not.I tried when i feel it just to observe it and put no thought to it and it go's sometimes not.
I do almost the same meditation too just don't see the light but my thoughts calm down.
So do u suggest Apan Vayu??
Can u give me a site with a pic of the mudra and its benefits of just a pic please
Thanks
You mean this one http://www.yogawiz.com/yoga-mudra/apan-vayu-mudra.html
They say it helps for heart attacks.

Yeah, like I said, worth at least giving it a try.
Yes, that's the one, I mainly use the material on this site for mudras:
completenaturecure.com/appan-vaayu-mudra-benefits
There is some additional information about Apan Vayu if you're interested.
I sit cross-legged, I'm not flexible enough to sit in a lotus comfortably for more than a short amount of time.
