Cool!
The other week my mother found an electric guitar in the throw-outs, it works on an amp and is in good condition, it's a wonder why they were throwing it out. I love that guitar now, it's a Les Paul.

you guys are making me want to pull my old guitar out of the attic! I only played it for a couple of years when I was teenager, but I couldn't seem to ever get rid of it. Keep thinking...."someday, when I have time" *sigh*

oooo, les paul!! nice!! thats a great save from the "junk pile", wouldve been a terrible shame to have it delivered to its grave.

pull it out mother goose!! its fun... and well never have time for anything!! there is somthing special about ones guitar (or any musical instrument). notice how piano's stay in families for generations, even when no one can play anymore??

Whale Frozen Toes

I find that if you have a guitar lying around the house you are more likely to play than when it is up in the attic ;)
I have about four guitars now, since my mum found that other one, including one bass guitar.

i used to play the violin for a few years as a teenager. i loved it but instead of practising the classical stuff assigned to me i would work out how to play irish songs and jigs.

i want to buy another one and run off with an irish band. i'd get sick of them after a week though i imagine...there's only so much irish rover and whiskey in the jar music one can take LOL.

bellydancing lapis! i always wanted to learn to do that. i would like to jingle more :) might add that to my musical wishlist :)

keep up the guitar boys! mother goose, i hope you go grab that guitar soon :)

She's taking in the bins, she's bringing home the bacon; sas quash

You would probably like Jethro Tull, Rose. Especially in the middle of their career they got very Irish jig kind of thing. Heavy horses and Songs from the Wood you would probably enjoy.

My son started on an electric and a few years later finally got an acoustic. I remember him saying that he had to push the strings down harder on the frets (sp?) with the acoustic and he started getting new larger callous's because of this. His fingers hurt for awhile until they got stronger.

I remember him using a cigarette lighter as a slide on the acoustic and it sounded so great! Good times.....

Yes those brass finger cymbols - zills - come in different diameters and weights, and the heavier larger ones really carry. Think of smaller high-hats, like on a drummers set, on both your hands. Yeah......lots of good sounds.

yeah, youre allowed more "mistakes" on an electric (with the overdrive cranked up anyway). ya really gotta hold those strings good on an acoustic, every sound will be heard.
zills, huh...do they have a specific "purpose" or meaning??
