Binaural beats?
Has anyone used binaural beats during meditation? Has it worked for you?
I just discovered it tonight and found that I was able to get into "the zone" MUCH faster than usual... makes me wonder if I'm more clairaudient than I thought? My only worry is becoming dependent on the tones to get to that state in the future.
Anyone have thoughts on this?

You are talking about the theta state. I use a simple meditation to get there. It works for me. I was not interested in the beats for the same reason.

To be honest , I have used binaural beats....
There are two kinds, just the beats and the beats ingrained into relaxing music....
When it's raw beats I can't listen to long, and I don't like it for meditation although I feel like they do level me so what I do is I put it very low before I sleep and let myself listen to it while sleeping...I do get more peaceful sleep, feel the effects without the annoyance.
The beats that are ingrained into relaxing meditation music is great, you hear the faint undertone of the beats but the music is so calming and it takes you away that it's useful for meditation without the monotonous d-ddddddddddd
I don't knock binaurals, they have given some aid in what I try to do for myself...you just have to see HOW it can help you if it is beneficial for you...

Binaural beats make me nauseous and induce anxiety...lol the opposite of what they are supposed to be doing.
I guess everyone is different in this respect, what works for one may not work for another...personally, I have no trouble getting to the trance state on my own, so anything else would only be a distraction...
Yeah, the monotonous ddddddddddd.....aaarg!

I have used them and they do work for me.
I can understand the problem Hope has because the beats do switch from side to side. It doesn't induce nausea for me, but I can understand how it could.
I can't listen to just the beats, it has to be included in some kind of meditative music.
Soundcloud has binaural beats you can listen to for free.

Using Binaural beats, its kind of like having to use Viagra.
So no....
I don't like them.
I have been listening to some relaxing music, but have made sure it does not have any Binaural beats hidden in there! Some sneaky uploads around guys...
But most of the time i just go commando and listen to nothing! old school.

Lol...me too.
Even the voices on audio/video guided meditations irritate the heck out of me.

Yeh i definitely don't like them, for the reasons up above.
Guided meditation ones are ok, i don't personally use them but they are ok. As-long as they don't have any Binaural beats hidden in them.
Yeh the voices can be annoying.

I find binaurals to be very helpful myself, though I don't use them all the time.
Really is of no use at all without headphones. ;)
