Taoism in a nutshell?
Hot thing touches cold thing and eventually they become a warm thing?
And the tao is just the flow of things heating up and cooling down ?
(not necessarily meaning temperature but possibly from order into chaos?)

Although equilibrium is important, but it isn't always perfectly in the middle. In fact, it is more about harmonizing with what is around you (without your life being dictated by it) than it is about strict equilibrium. Perhaps it could be seen as more of a lake that becomes cool in autumn, cold in winter, warm in the spring and hot in the summer. However, despite changing temperatures, the water never loses it's innate nature as H2O.

there is a phenomena I remembered when I was at college regarding the resonant frequency of a circuit, once that resonant frequency was found for that particular circuit, there was virtually no resistance and it gave out maximum voltage and maximum current....its like it never notices the resistors or other resistive components of the circuit. I never went to college just to learn about electronics or to get a job as most people thought I did!
taosandwich is near enough on the nub of it I think.

Hahaha except when the homeostasis of one group conflicts with the homeostasis of another group.

Taoism is an Eastern religion/philosophy whose total adherents is impossible to even crudely estimate. Although it is more accurately referred to as a philosophy, books on world religions inevitably include it with other religions from Buddhism to Zoroastrianism.

I do less and less, until I do nothing at all,
then nothing is left undone.

I agree completely.
Whenever I'm feeling confused or upset about something I try to remember "Doing Nothing. I've noticed that when I meddle all I do is muddy the waters and prolong my misery. Doing nothing is hard because we want to control events. I wish I could remember that we control only ourselves. The rest of the Universe is out of our remit.
