Skin contact versus closed setting

Happy tuesday I would appreciate your feed back regarding the effect of a stone in a silver setting with a closed back versus a setting that is open in the back so the stone has direct contact with the skin. I enjoy direct contact, personally, but wonder if it actually enhances the effect of the stone on the wearer. Thanks for your input.

I think being close to the stone is most important, but like you I prefer skin contact, its ONLY a preference. So as far as crystal jewelery as long as its near you, thats all that matters IMO.

Thank you for your response. That is what I'm wanting to know..I have some pieces that have the back cut out and some that are a closed setting in silver. I have an opportunity to pick up a piece I would love but the whole back of the setting on this very large amazonite is close and the silversmith won't alter it.
