Like a wild flower that grow in the heart, the seed is sewn and grows then blooms, itself casting a thousand seeds, then thousands more from each of those. In my hand is the single seed, and just like wild flowers, it's the future of my heart.

Here’s my favorite poem by my favorite poet (and also happens to have a rose-theme, thus I‘ll stick it here):
somewhere i have never travelled,gladly beyond
by: E. E. Cummings
somewhere i have never travelled,gladly beyond
any experience,your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near
your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully,mysteriously)her first rose
or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully ,suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;
nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility:whose texture
compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing
(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens;only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody,not even the rain,has such small hands

What a lovely thread Gem...thank you so much! Thank you too all you flower lovers for the pictures and poems!
There's no more intoxicating experience than walking through meadows full of wildflowers (which I just spent the weekend doing). I considered stealing some of them for my sanctuary which is already full of flowers. I just couldn't uproot them, they looked so happy where they were at.
If I can figure out how to upload pics from my camera onto this new computer I'll share some here.

In the morning I go and see my orchids. This is not the time of year they flower, but I know they will, and I wait till they do.

Things are finally starting to flower here. The lilacs are just about to burst, the dogwoods are done, the apples, and plums are flowering.. The very misunderstood danelion is out in full force, the Rhododendrons are finished, Azaleas started... Now the roses, gladiolus, dahlia, lily, clematis and iris are preparing for their summer show.

" Oh i'll twine and i'll mingle my waving black hair,
With the roses so red and the lillies so fair;
With the myrtle so bright with the emerald dew,
wild amanita (?) and blue islip too"...old mountain song
This thread is a walk thru a bouquet, and seeing so many of them i can memory smell them. You raise orchids also Gem? i used to raise cattlayas and phalyanapsis ( creative spelling) Thank you all for the beautiful pics too.
