FairC. Yes I have found blonde hair hard to do as well, that’s why I don’t often paint it. I had a commission to do a portrait of a woman who had lots of wavy blonde hair and honestly I was tearing my hair out with the “middle tone”. Nothing seemed right. Then a woman I knew told me to add a bit of sap green and put into the middles that I mix and wow couldnt believe how well it worked.
I think I used the normal skin tones ie white, ochre, sienna and a touch of green. Can’t remember exactly but maybe if you just mix your usual skin tones and then a tiny bit of green it might work out.
Your face has a lovely serene feeling about it.

Thank you, RedChic!
I googled which colours to use, but I can see how a tad of green would work. I think much depends on the pallet of the painting.
This has a lot of blues and purples so I don't think green would be the right choice for this work. But I can really see how it can work, so I'm going to bear it in mind. You never know if some day I want/have to paint blonde hair again :)

This is how far I got with it today.
I have decided to give the tiara a go!
But since I changed the hairline up top it was partly in the wrong place so I got rid of the lines there.
In order to let that dry I did more work on the dragon.
Dragon isn't done yet, but nearing the end.
The tiara is going to be a huge challenge. If I can't get it done the way I want it to be it'll be Gesso and blonde hair again, hihi.
Keep your fingers crossed for me please!!

I honestly can't describe how it makes me feel
It's almost as though you painted this for me.
First and foremost it's the hair.
This IS my hair and how I used to dress it for work..( scoop it back... Twist it round and put slides and grips in to hold it in place...) and the colour is identical !!
Plus the connection I had with my reptiles.
I'm finding that looking at it causes me a sense of sad nostalgia .
