The process does not take away from their beauty, however the roses are coloured after they are cut guys ... the stems are split and dipped in dye which travels up and into the petals

Look at this beauty which decided to bloom yesterday in my garden.
Its diameter is 7" - wow!!

They look to beautiful to be real, but there are so many different colors in one rose, they'd have to split it several different ways. I don't care how they do it, I love it. I would've never guessed that's how it's done.

No, it's a peony. My Cosmos are about an inch tall at the moment and very very green.
Because I haven't lived here for a year yet, everything that is blooming is a surprise. I've got a fair few peonies that are in bud, but that particular one is my first to brave it. What a stunner...and the size of a side-plate.

I grew up with my mom's huge flower garden and we had the pale pale pink peonies, 2 big bushes of them, I'd never seen the deeper almost red ones like that. Incredible.
