Think about this. Christianity, its ideal sense, is intended to attract sinners....some would say the worst amongst us. Maybe it is not the worst religion but maybe it just has the worst people.?? This is only half in jest....

Very well.

Buddhism wasn't under Ashoka, he decided to practice Dharma after being a Mass Murderer most of his life, . even after converting to Buddhism in his 40s his cruelty did not reduce till his late 50s
Better late than never I suppose.....

After the wars, Asoka realized what he had done and then began to implement Buddhism throughout the Indian sub-continent. He is also credited with promoting vegetarianism and putting an end to cruelty to animals.

In Buddhist dominate countries, his name is well known.

Asoka epitomizes how a person can change for the better and do much good.

A very VIOLENT Man according to History..... But he did take 10 years of practicing Buddhism to change his murderous acts, shame on Him. Pretending to be a Buddhist while committing atrocities....

According to Buddhist historians, Asoka was a man who realized his wrongs and did a tremendous amount of good afterwards.

Does your form of Buddhism allow for forgiveness?

Indeed so, although Ashoka didn't end cruelty to animals, he just put it on the agenda.

These days the narrative is heavily guarded by Vedanta and Hindutva-approved historical revisionists, whom spread romantic-nationalist rubbish. Truth is, the vast majority of Hindus were and are meat eaters (at least 70%), and their oldest books mention cow eating and blood sacrifice.
