The Book of Isaiah was written over 2 Centuries so there are more than one writer, it's acknowledged that the 'Prophet' wrote the first part. It's generally divided by scholars into two (sometimes three) major sections, which are called First Isaiah (chapters 1–39), Deutero-Isaiah (chapters 40–55 or 40–66), and—if the second section is subdivided—Trito-Isaiah (chapters 56–66).

The Bible is certainly full of wrath and punishment which is 'deserved'.
Teachings that instill 'fear' when according to some Verses 'fear' is not from God, but rather from the enemy satan seem very contradictory, imo....

Lets not forget life was way more harsh for a greater percentage of people. There was no answer to a plague, earthquake, etc. People were left to the elements, so to speak. People probably had thicker skin, when they wrote down their religious beliefs it was also written more firmly than today. But is the content that much different? What was ''wrath'' and 'punishment'' yesterday may be called ''life lesson'' today. That sounds more sweet does it not? However, the same experiences happen: people experience pain and suffering..

Yes the old testament god sometimes sounds more like Satan to me. The real God, the I Am, is a god of love. This god doesn't punish anyone.

I agree...sometimes I wonder if the OT God ever really did those murderous terrible things!
Maybe early man's mind with it's superstitions just blamed God for natural disasters...I don't know, of course!
Interesting you don't cap God ...but you do Satan?
Just an aside, many Christian authors will say in their intro they refuse to capitalize satan throughout their book.

Hmm . I do sometimes cap god when talking about the real God. The god portrayed in much of the OT is not, for me, the real one and I don't capitalize it. The real god is like a Person. It has a personality and can be related to on the person to person level. I don't believe that satan is a person, so it was inaccurate of me to use caps in that context.
I might as well add here that I am not entirely opposed to satan as a principle that contradicts the wrathful, punitive OT notion of god. This is why satanism is attractive to some people but it is not my cup of tea since it denies the good and real God, the I Am, as well as the bad, unreal god.
