7-21-23 …
Once again … an old axiom … one must learn to give beauty for atrocity … joy for sorrow.
In other words … to get beyond what and where you are … you must begin to think and feel towards its opposite. The new must replace the old. The “old” can rarely just be eradicated without leaving a void … which *will* be filled … and more often than not … not with something that will be to your benefit … so … choose its replacement … and advance towards its practice.
If you wish to eliminate ear … concentrate on courage. If you wish to eliminate lack … concentrate on abundance. If you wish to eliminate disease … concentrate on health.
Always concentrate on the preferred ideal. Make it real … make it believable … by using well-chosen words and phrases. Yes … they will not at the moment realistically apply to the habitual you … but … they will in time … as you lead yourself into the ideal you design.
These practices have been promoted by various systems for a long time. They are not new. They are often given “new” names and promoted as a “new” discovery. The principles are as old as time.
As stated elsewhere … one of the great strains on all of this is when one must endure a karmic implication no matter what the thoughts are. Balance *will* be brought about. If one is here to balance a set of conditions by undergoing physical or emotional hardships … that *will* be concluded no matter the viewpoint held … the difference lies in how one will endure … how one reacts to these situations.
This is NOT … easy … nor pleasant. The struggles can often go on forever. LIFE does not ask you to suffer for another unless you knowingly and willingly do so. LIFE does not ask you to die for another but there are many lessons in doing so … and there is often a balance to be gained. If one has “died for another” in a previous life … the balancing situation will often be lived.
We do the best that we can at the time … knowing that attitude towards … is important.
There are long periods when we cannot maintain a focus … even longer when we are just beginning. It is practice that tips the scale … and this sometimes can take a while. One learns that the habitual mind does not like change … not at all … and will often be incredibly stubborn. Again … it often helps if you trick or con or manipulate the mind into becoming interested in where you wish it to go. After all … this is *your* mind … *your* preferences and habits … so *you* are the one to figure out how to trick / lead / manipulate / con your own mind into making other choices than what it has always preferred. It is often more than day-by-day … it is often moment-by-moment.
If you try … and fail … do it again. If you try and fail a hundred times … try again 101. Try a sideways approach … are an over-the-wall approach. Try to not get caught up in overcoming a pattern … but just imaginatively pretend that you already are doing the new ideal. Make it seem like a movie. Heck … tell your mind it IS a movie and you are just watching it. Do that for a week or two … and then see where you are.
Try to just adjust to whatever your mind tries to hand you. No matter its approach … try to lead it into a more advanced consideration … always having to do with the ideal. You can approach the same ideal from many different directions. Who knows …- pretty soon the mind may jump on board because … to it … its more of an amusement ride … and soon you are involved in that ride / ideal … and you can build from there.
Have a great weekend.
More Monday.
