What is the point of angels?

In some circles you would be considered an angel. In my world you like the many of us are programmed to care. How that programming came into being may be the result of working with higher dimensions of consciousness that could be construed as "angelic" forces. It's a pretty complex topic actually. Suffice to say pragmatically you have all the qualities of an angel. :)

the terms higher self and true self are bandied around a bit. true self is simply self without influence. influence may be in the moment or a collection of moments that contain charge. true self has no charge it only has being. the various layers of our character and experience become an overcoat for our true self. higher self is another dance all to its own. people may mistake another entities communication as coming from a higher self and in fact the only thing that is different outside of the content is how the content is received; that is, in mind. if you align with true self you can not be contained by the duality of a higher self which implies a lower self. all aspects merge into a unified whole. release the garments of charge and identity and we have essential or native being; true self.

Also, you wanted to know where angels are outside of the Bible? They exist in the Torah and Quaran as well, although you could call those books similar as they have a lot of the same stories. Angels also exist in Jewish mysticism (see things like the Kabbalah). Many believe that Divas from hinduism are the same thing, as well as creatures in other religions with similar functions. Basically lots of religions have depicted a spiritual race of helpers that serve the head god of that religion.

Thanks for the info, but it is still all hearsay isn't it? And is the Torah any different from the old testament? They are all religious texts and religious beliefs... That some people then were mediums, as they are now and could see and communicate with spirit is not in doubt, but a separate race of beings with wings "is" in doubt... there is no proof of any kind...

But wouldn't God be able to do that? I mean, if He is all powerful, I don't understand why He would need angels to do stuff for him.

Well... look at it this way. Sure, you can talk to God directly... but aren't there times when you don't want to disturb the Boss and just take your concerns to the senior workers?

The Holy Spirit of God indeed exists as the essence of His angels... As such, God may act through angels and even act through you, whether your spirit (inter-dwelling with the Holy Spirit of God if you are a true believer) directs you to do good for others and to life the spirits of others.

According to the Urantia Book, angels originate from the Creative Mother of this local universe. They work in various capacities throughout the systems on her behalf - including with us.
