This is true Bob.
Which brings up the question in my mind of others realms.
For simplicity if I define pure evil as the absence of Light and we are at present in a dualistic world,
then there may very well be realms with much more evil/darkness and realms with much more Light.
Which makes this present world a very good learning ground for one to choose
Light over darkness or vice versa.

I should also add that in my own narrow view, Love and it's many perplexities is the best subject to learn about
and figure out ways of growing in Love and learn how to best Give and Receive it.
I usually break evil vs. good or Light vs. darkness into fear vs. Love.
So I would also call evil, acts of fear.

Well, with that sort of evil, I cant understand why a person can harm another. There are however different kind's of evil depending on the situation.

Bobjob,

One of students needs is to be challenged…..I view that as much more important than simply being given the answer. They must develop self confidence to experience the freedom of not being dependent on others.

Deflection aids the discussion ? Perhaps……maybe some students are not meant to be challenged.

Good is exact correspondence with reality, and evil is the opposite. Good is surrender, evil is non-surrender. Evil, like good, grows gradually in an individual, unless observed and corrected. In this sense, as long as there exists a major fault in a person, there is always the possibility of the person becoming quite evil. Even one fault is enough to turn a person into evil, not overnight, but gradually.

Evil develops due to lack of understanding something that is important for a person, given his life experiences. Great Evil can also develop through unforgiveness, not overnight, but gradually, so that you dont notice the change, until it is too late (although it is never too late to change).

Non-acceptance of your life situation can also sometimes result in a person holding resentment and thus becoming evil.

Resisting the evil of others towards oneself can also make us evil. Fear can also make us evil. In fact, fear is evil.

Very evil people are like us, and we can, each one of us, become very evil, if the circumstances are just right and we are not aware of the ways of our mind. Why are we like evil people ? Because the mechanism of the way our mind works is the same for all of us. It is the content of our minds that are different. If, God forbid, we become victims of social injustice or any other form of unfair treatment on a little larger scale, then unless we master ourselves, we can become resentful towards life in general and perhaps even God in particular. We may not be able to get over it, and so evil might be born within us, and it may grow through our resentment of life, and thinking that life is unjust. If we think life is unjust, then our minds might become chaotic and we may become mentally and emotionally sick. This sickness may result in our behaving in ways that are evil.

That is why, some wise people have said: PRACTICE till you die.

Hi saurab,

That is very philosophical. Are we not all contributors to reality ? To surrender to reality seems to imply that we relinquish our freedom to shape reality…..to become a bystander to reality rather than a participant. If one assumes that God is reality then surrender is appropriate. For most evil is perceived as a reality and surrender to any manifestation of that could be viewed as evil in itself. It is difficult to believe that this is a world of non-duality. Technically neither good nor evil can exist in non-duality.
