There is no death. So what you say may be a misunderstanding i.e. ignorance. We are all ignorant.

This is true IMO……that is why I mentioned death….I could have expanded on death to more precisely say that the fear of death is the cause of the ego….and it is ignorance to not be aware that life is eternal….ego is present as a survival instinct because of our failure to realize that life is eternal…..

Absolutely. The mind is a great servant but a terrible master.

But the ego is, I believe, necessary for the first part of life when we are learning how to adapt to the world. I strongly agree with Carl Jung's views on this. Unless a person is deeply spiritual from a very young age, like Adayashanti seemed to be, it's important to build a healthy ego to function and keep us grounded. It's later on that we can in some instances begin to transcend it's limitations.

While I agree that a sense of separation from the whole can be a cause of ego... I have to question "What is the whole" ?

I think that without an "I" identity to "be", there 's no sense of a journey... or in other words of the journey being a journey....

P.S. For me life is not eternal, and in a way that bears the fruit of our existence to begin with.... or 'having begun'......

The whole (or God) to me, is pure potentiality.

In other words absolutely everything that can ever exist and at the same time absolutely nothing.

Creativity itself.
