In traditional Jewish views, Elohim is the name of God as the creator and judge of the universe. Genesis 1.
In Genesis 2 the sacred name of God is revealed, YHVH, which expresses God's closeness to Humans.
YHVH breathed into His (Adams) nostrils the breath of life.

You want to know my name? I am called according to my actions.
When I judge 'I am' called Elohim. When I have mercy. 'I am' YHVH.

Hebrew for Christians - Gods Names....

I claim Elohim and Yahweh were not translated properly into other languages and that causes mass confusion.

It seems that Christians generally have no idea who these two entities are. Even though both names are used a lot in the Hebrew Bible, they generally are foreign in other Bibles. Some Bibles have put Yahweh back in the Bible but so far, I have not found a Bible other then the Masoretic Text that uses Elohim.

It appears those scriptures were compiled when the Jews where in Babylon. Some of the scriptures speak only of Elohim and some scriptures speak only of Yahweh. Those scriptures give us a good composite of Elohim and Yahweh. And then there are scriptures that try to harmonize Elohim and Yahweh and they say such things as Elohim Yahweh and Yahweh Elohim.

What does the scripture I showed say?

Exodus 3:14 reads:
And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM:

The word used for God in Hebrew, in this case, is אֱלֹהִים֙ which is transliterated as Elohim.

I claim אֱלֹהִים֙ should have been translated using that word's transliteration instead of God. As far as I have been able to 'see', no language seems to have a word to use that can be used for אֱלֹהִים֙ .

As for Elohim and Yahweh:

it appears to me when some were asked their view on creation, they gave their version along with their respective deity. It appears to me, opinions were being solicited. Later, when the Talmuds were being produced, this style of writing became very much pronounced.

Why would they pray to Elohim or Yahweh?

Probably none of them have a Bible that uses such names. To most people: those names have no meaning.

You would think that they should know those names but they don't.

What is odd...... is that the Masoretic Text, as far as I know, is used as the text for every translation of the Bible for the 'Old Testament'. It seems that very few people have ever checked the various translations at how they were translated. If they had, these and other translation problems would have been corrected.

It is sad that for the most part, people don't seem to be able to recognize these names in Hebrew. I remember once, showing a chap the name Yahweh in Paleo-Hebrew and he had no idea what it meant.

As far as I know, both Elohim and Yahweh are considered the number one words used in the Masoretic Text used for the 'Old Testament' but you might be hard pressed to find anybody that knows that.

It seems that the Jews have all kinds of 'restrictions' on using those names. But if you look in a Hebrew Bible (Masoretic Text), the usage of Elohim and Yahweh are used without any restrictions.

Elohim and Yahweh are not te only deities that have been 'lost' in time.

The Hindu Supreme God Trimurti is almost unknow by Hindu devotees.

The syllable on our lips is not nearly as important as the attitude of our heart. Didn't Jesus cite the prophet Isaiah: “ people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me”....
