Nice little vid that.....not dependent, yet not separate. Inter-dependent. ''Finding its own way''...I like that too.

that's a lovely video Gem, thanks for sharing

I really liked the part about the stream and how, if you oppose it, it will simply go around you or any obstacle in the way

I also liked this:

Quote:
"this is the zen way, without effort, without intention,

if there is a sound we hear,

if our eyes are open we see,

there is nothing more than this"

come to think of it, the zen way is the way of no self... to interfere or interpret what is...

Greetings..

Zen Buddhism is the Japanese modification of Ch'an Buddhism of China.. which was a merging of Taoism and Buddhism with influences of Da Mo (Bodhidharma).. its fundamental tenet is that of 'direct experience', as opposed to theories, writings, and ritual, which is odd given the very strict rituals of formal Zen practice.. the point, though, is that Zen is not "the way of no self", it requires a self to manifest the direct experience.. The attraction of Zen is its commitment to the purity of the experience..

Be well..

the purity of experience requires a direct experience to manifest a self free from hang ups.

What are you trying to say?.. speak plainly, simply.. so much of the 'Spiritual' talk is lost in trying to sound 'Spiritual'..

Be well..

Hang ups such as conditioning. Which would include any attachment to the existence or the absence of a self.
The 'very strict rituals of formal Zen practice' Tzu refers to are the structures against which one's conditioning and beliefs bump against and thus become noticeable. They are not designed to imprison but to free oneself.

Once free of a belief in a self one sees that there is no problem to use and speak in terms of self. Instead of an entity function it has now a utility function.

The seperation of a self from thought of it is not realistic, because self awareness is the awareness of thought.
